Why does the mad knight, Don Quixote, remain so popular 400 years after the novel's publication? Who is he – Don Quixote of today? How long would he have stayed free? Would he have run away, been exiled, or served a life sentence for telling the truth and not giving up?
His voice, hoarse from the wind, the dust of the roads and his attempts to be heard by the others, does not fall silent.
He does not give up. He declares a hunger strike.
He withers away, crumbling among the twigs of dry flowers.
Even in old age, crippled, Don Quixote is ready to see Dulcinea in his nursemaid and ascend with her to the heaven. The irony in this story is inseparable from compassion.
Don Q is a reflection on all of us, falling and rising, continuing to go forward through terrible times, no matter what.
On stage: classical marionettes, life-size and micro-puppets and live actors.
For adults and children from 9 years old.
